If you’ve been to our website recently, you’ll notice our newest bundle that benefits Hand in Hand for Haiti. We’ve now partnered with this non-profit for two years and we’d like to explain to you why we chose them.

On January 12, 2010, an incredible earthquake rocked Haiti and many small cities that were nowhere near prepared for such a disaster. Immediately, support for this little country poured in, and three top travel industry executives decided to join in the effort —in the hopes of building a “hurricane-proof, anti-seismic, sustainable school complex “ in Saint-Marc, Haiti.

The founding team is made up of Estée Lauder Companies Travel Retailing President Olivier Bottrie, CEO and Chairman of DFS Ed Brennan and Founder and Publisher of The Moodie Report Martin Moodie. But the support trickles all the way down to Parazul, a small company with a big heart for the students of Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable, which opened its doors on October 2, 2011.

Last January, our Founder and Head Designer Robin Rosenbaum-Andras, President of Operations Sarah Beth Reno and Marketing Coordinator Brigid Cotter took a trip to the school and met all 152 of the amazing little students.

After being overwhelmed with hugs and love, our Parazul team was smitten and we knew it was a cause we would forever hold dear to us.

This school year, over 200 students will be enrolled in the Pre-school, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten classes. Students will follow the 16-year Haitian curriculum and are taught Creole, French and English. Eventually, the school will be able to teach a full count of 720 students.

Your purchase of our bundle will not only make you look fab but will also help the students of Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable continue their amazing education. Last year, Parazul raised more than $11,000 and we hope to exceed this goal!

Please share our story, read more about Hand in Hand for Haiti and make a purchase for a big cause.

The children of Saint-Marc thank you for it.

Charming You… with a day at the farmers market

We know that spending quality time outside can be difficult when balancing a full-time job, class schedule or life in general. But here at Parazul, we think it’s important to get outdoors and into the fresh air; even if it’s only for an hour or two.

Here’s a look inside our ideal weekend morning: the farmers market.

You can bring the kids, the nieces and nephews, the dogs or just yourself. It’s one of the best ways to enjoy some fresh air, pick much-needed groceries for the upcoming week and learn a little about your market purchase.

You can also learn from the farmers and merchants about ways to use and enjoy their produce. It’s a great way to meet the locals if you’re traveling abroad or want to enjoy some truly ethnic treats.

Our recent adventure to the farmers market was a Saturday morning walk followed by a few samplings of the fruits and veggies for sale. After perusing, we picked up some dragon fruit, an item that is usually difficult to find at a corporate grocery. We’re planning to use it as a salsa on top of scallops. Yum!

And of course, our Parazul bag was in tow all morning. We think the slim bag would be perfect for storing your cash – this is the usually the easiest form of payment at the market, so be sure to grab some before you head out.

A quick search online is the easiest way to find information about the next open-air market in your area.  We hope you’re as lucky as we are and find some tasty treats next weekend!

Have you been to your local market? What’s your favorite part about a weekend walk among the stalls? Tell us here or on our Facebook page and we’ll enter you to win a Hibiscus charm!

Summer Weekend Getaway Essentials: Part 2

In Miami Beach, our sunny Friday afternoons seem to have disappeared today. But, that hasn’t stopped us from packing our imaginary bags! Here’s our latest and greatest combination for a breezy weekend retreat.

1. Swimsuit
We love picking up a new favorite for the summer season and we’re in love with pastel shades. They’re trending big time this summer, so make sure to lighten up and indulge if you find a fun one.

2. Boho shorts
A pair of these should definitely be on hand for your next trip. We love a comfortable pair that works for carefree style but can still be whipped into a trendy outfit with the addition of a unique top or fun hat.

3. Sandals
It is a vacation after all… Whether it’s your go-to flippy floppys or a strappy metallic set, you’ll make good use. We keep casual outfits looking chic with a pair that has an ankle strap for extra security. It works well if we’re doing a lot of walking and sightseeing.

4. Colored jeans
A standard wardrobe essential are your favorite jeans, but these are a great reason to grab a new pair. For a real pop, pair them with a white top for a simple way to stand out in the crowd.

5. Linen Top
It’s warm out and by no means do we want to be boiling. But, a little coverage can go a long way, especially with a lightweight, light-colored top. We’re in love with linen because it’s breathable and beachy, but easy to dress up with the right accessories.

Looking for the bag to tie it all together?

6. Parazul’s Pink Demi Bag (and it’s on sale!)
If you need a little room but something light enough to not way down your weekend, this is the bag for it. The bright pink adds the perfect pop to a summer day outfit and works for days at the beach or nights in town.

Now go skedaddle and enjoy your weekend!

Lazy Day Pick-Me-Up

Summer Sundays are well-spent relaxing and soaking up the rays. But we all need a little pick-me-up now and again. Luckily, Parazul is here to offer you just the cure for your lazy summer Sunday – fun ways to create and make what you already have into something “new”!

We recently discovered an old dark denim jacket circa 2000 sadly hiding in the back of our closet that hasn’t been touched in ages. We love recreating looks for less (so we can buy more!) and we wanted to bring our jacket up-to-date, so we decided on an “Ombré Overhaul.“ You can also do this with shorts!

We love how easy it was to do this while watching a movie or reading a book. Check out our intern Bianca and how awesome her “Ombré Overhaul” turned out!
